*An Unusual Specimen of Brown/Black Fossil Wood

This fossil wood specimen from Big Sandy, Wyoming, USA, clearly shows that the wood was weathered before fossilisation. The rough, weathered texture of the exterior is perfectly preserved. The inner grain is well-preserved on one polished end. The other polished end shows the unsual black fossilisation characteristic of this Eocene wood.
