If you've ever wanted to read ancient inscriptions, this title shows that, as well as being historically interesting, they are relatively simple and fun to work with. This informative guide offers you the opportunity not only to explore hieroglyphics, but also to explore the cultures that used them. The guide uncovers the mysteries of Egyptian and Mayan hieroglyphics; takes a look at how this ancient language works and is written; unravels the complexities behind Egyptian and Mayan hieroglyphics; and provides the opportunities to practise drawing your own examples on blank cartouches.
From an English reviewer:
For anyone interested in hieroglyphics this small book would be a good starting point. As it says on the back of the book it gives a simplified look at how these languages work and how they are written. The symbols in the book are also a good guide to help you with drawing your own hieroglyphics.
I think the book is aimed at the curious or casual observer of hieroglyphics rather than the academic and as such it serves its purpose. However there is still plenty of information within its pages and I thought the book was well worth owning.
